Ok, wives, you are probably wondering if I will ever talk to the husbands. Eventually…..

As our pastor, Matt Chandler, of The Village Church, mentioned a couple of weeks ago when he taught on 1 Peter 3: 1-7, when women and men are addressed in Scripture, it always starts with the women. Interesting, huh?

As we continue through 1 Peter 3, let’s look at how a husband perceives his wife’s love. How do you think your husband perceives yours?

The answer…..
When he senses your respect and support.

Ladies, do you exude respect and support to your husband? Does he know without a shadow of a doubt, that you are supportive of him, or do you attempt to be his authority? Are you constantly rebuking and correcting him? If so, he may eventually emotionally push away from you. Do you feel as though your husband is disengaged? Do you know why?

You were not created to have authority over your husband. In fact, it causes upheaval and destruction!

Solution: Be assertive in looking for ways to show your husband how much you love him. Your actions and loving attitude will speak volumes.

  • I'm still praying that my marriage will be restored. I hope someday I have the chance to show him how much I really do love him, because the first time I sucked at it…my mind was elsewhere. It was all about my needs not being met. He probably would have jumped through hoops for me if I had done what I was suppose to.

  • Today i have decided that i am going to take back what i have allowed the enemy to steal away from me, my husband of 17 years, my home and the respect of my family. Join me in prayer, dedication and obedience.

  • This is really messed up. Women should not be taught to be submissive to their husbands at all times. That is how so many women (and their children) are stuck in physically and emotionally abusive homes and relationships. Get over yourself.

    • Hmmmm, well I don’t agree…..
Jane, I don’t think you have a clear understanding of submission. It is important to understand what it means….it definitely does not mean being a doormat or being abused. 1Peter 3:1 says “Women, be submissive to your husbands, so that if they do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by your respectful and pure conduct”. if a woman is being abused she should seek counsel and go to a safe place.
