4. Live in Christian Community and have accountability
5. Have a vision for my family and provide opportunities to make the vision a reality.
6. Honor God with my finances
7. Date my wife – ask her how we are doing? (God gave me two ears and one mouth for a reason)
8. Live my life with a spirit of forgiveness
9. Guard my heart
10. Meditate on what Jesus did for me on the cross
Guys, let’s hear from you!!
Also, here is a great sermon by Mark Driscoll for men!
Just listened to Driscoll's message (the one where he yells at all the men), and it was super powerful. And convicting! Not sure if I want to listen to the woman one, doh! Thanks for the post, we read them together tonight before we podcasted Driscoll. Thanks for pouring in to others' lives with your stories and wisdom.
Hi, do you think "I do again" is a good book for me to pass onto my seperated husband? If he is willing to read it? He was q Christian and has walked away from God… He is still single and contemplating reconcilliation… But struggling with pain and hurt, guilt and Shame
Ok I will order him one tonight. I was unsure, because sometimes I find there is a fine line between "letting go and letting God" as they say… And getting in the way and trying to take control. It is a great read and it is not an intense read… It's all about Jesus… So I will give him one. Not mine… Mine is for ME! I need it to remind myself that the emotions and lonliness and trials and refining fire… R for a purpose and other people do go through the same thing. Thanks
I'm alone. I'm right here where Jeff was, and it is cancer, it is Aids, and I wake every day to it. But God has changed my life, in ways I cannot fully explain. I am not who I was. I will never be. I so desperately want to be understood, and loved. My wife came back, but she's hiding. She's scared, and while she is clinging to me it's only a matter of time before she realizes I cannot fulfill. I shouldn't be asked to. Being compared is building a void, and I do not know how to stop it. She has had so much trauma in her life that the walls are high and mighty. While I pray and wait for God to crumble them, I'm trying desperately to lead a raging bull. I started writing a blog, in secret to get things out there. I was a writer before, and now I journal non stop. However, I don't want to lean on my own understanding. Proverbs also says 'If God guides steps why try to understand them? I'm really not sure when to step up and tell her she's killing our marriage. So I am quiet and I die to her daily as Christ did to the church. She has been humbled but I have a great deal of trouble believing her. She gets irritated so quickly when I ask about the affair, and she won't tell anyone about it. This means she can't be held accountable by anyone, and if it were me I don't think I would be able to stop. Cheryll, what suggestions do you have? This woman has no empathy, nor direction. She never calls to see where I'm at, of which I do not hang over her head, nor would it be her fault if I had an affair, but it's as if she just doesnt care. I don't need less caring right now.
